NMOTA Conference Information

Welcome to your NMOTA Annual Fall Conference:
Celebrating the Occupation in Occupational Therapy!
September 11 - 12, 2009

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As we near our Centennial Celebration in 2017 I would like to officially state:

"We will not wait until 2017 in New Mexico!! We will celebrate OCCUPATION today!”

This year’s Conference Committee listened to your requests and comments from last year and therefore ensured that this year’s conference sessions reflect your areas of practice and will provide current information that will support you in your daily practice.

In addition, because your NMOTA Board of Directors fully empathizes with budget constraints, a conscious decision was made to keep conference tuition rates at the same price as last year. In fact, the only increase in conference prices was a $5 increase in Marriott hotel rooms for our friends who wish to stay on-site or who must drive from outside of Albuquerque. These prices should contribute to your ability to earn a total of 14 CEUs (if you attend the Saturday’s Sunrise Breakfast and the Poster Presentations at the Soiree-included with conference fee) over a period of one and one-half days. That’s even 1 more CEU, for the same price, as last year – what value!

Our second annual Sunset Soiree will be dedicated to the memory and efforts of Ellen Reavis, who succumbed to cancer earlier this year.  As many of you know, Ellen was our past legislative chair and championed school-based directives in APS for children with autism. In addition our Soiree will showcase Poster Presentations by students from all 3 New Mexico occupational therapy programs, which will give you 1 entire CEU when you visit each of the Poster Presentations.  Like last year, this Friday night event will have complimentary hors de oeuvres, a cash bar, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Julia Sweeney Scholarship Fund.  In addition, political candidates and legislators will be invited to attend the Sunset Soiree so that they can learn more about occupational therapy.  These relationships that we are building with legislators are serving us well during the legislative sessions and committee hearings that are held through the year.

I encourage you to join us for 1 and one-half days of high quality, inspirational, and motivating discourse, education, and the celebration of the Occupation in our Occupational Therapy!
