Get Involved - Two Board Openings

NMOTA is actively seeking 2 Board Members: 

Membership chair: needed to ensure that membership rolls on the website and historical log match to ensure that members are included in member-only discounts for conference and for voting in NMOTA elections and policy polling.  The membership chair attends 6 full board meetings a year, produces a brief report of membership and their own activities and spends about 1 hour per month ensuring the website is accurate. In August/September, the membership chair will work about 2-3 hours to ensure that people who bundle membership and conference together are entered as full members on the website. Training will occur with the prior membership chair and the webmaster and, as needed, with the NMOTA Treasurer. 

Practice Areas Chair: Regulatory decisions are made within NM Government at the division level such as the Children, Youth and Families Department, Aging and Long-Term Services Department, Department of Health and the Health Care Authority. These decisions affect Occupational Therapy Practitioners and the clients we serve, such as an inequitable regulation change that has resulted in OTPs being paid at lower rates than other allied health professionals. The practice areas Chair would scan the State of NM rules and laws website for law changes that affect the occupational therapy profession and alert the NM Occupational Therapy membership through website announcements and a webpage. Training will be conducted with the webmaster and, as needed, with an OTP representative to the NM State Board of Occupational Therapy.
