NMOTA Bylaws are Changing

Apr. 17, 2026

NMOTA Bylaws - Public Comment Period

A few things are changing and we need your feedback

Summary of Proposed Changes:

    1. Term limits for executive board roles (i.e., President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) will increase from 2 terms to 3 terms (i.e., 6 years maximum).
    2. Committee chair responsibilities will be covered by the overseeing executive board member if a willing appointee cannot be identified.
    3. Two board positions are being combined: Nominating Chair and Membership Chair. The new role will be called "Membership and Nominating Chair," taking on the responsibility of both previous positions and reporting to the Association treasurer. Summary of role is to (1) account and track membership signups and (2) to solicit nominations and run elections for executive board roles at the annual business meeting.
    4. Board position roles and responsibilities have been updated and clarified as the language was significantly out of date. The budget committee was retired due to the roles and responsibilities being absorbed by the treasurer. New committee summaries have been adopted to increase transparency and clarity.
